This summer, Monaco’s urban rhythm takes a temporary turn as the Louis II car park undergoes a full closure for essential renovation. From 21 July to 6 October 2025, the facility will be off-limits for ten weeks, reopening at 6 a.m. just in time for autumn’s return to routine.
The closure comes as part of Monaco Parkings’ ambitious plan to modernise the Principality’s older infrastructures. Over the coming weeks, crews will be hard at work refurbishing the car park’s floors, walls, and ceilings — a necessary facelift to enhance safety and comfort for everyday users.
To ease the disruption, the Principality has carefully prepared a network of alternatives. Regular pass holders will be redirected to the Grimaldi Forum and Portier facilities, while visitors will find convenient access at the Viaduc car park. Meanwhile, Monaco’s newest parking complex, the expansive Salines car park, offers nearly 1,800 spaces and is expected to absorb much of the redirected flow — an ideal moment to boost its current daily use of just 700 vehicles.
This renovation forms part of a wider strategy to streamline mobility ahead of the 2027 Games of the Small States of Europe. Efforts are being made to better distribute traffic, especially in Fontvieille, where two-wheeler parking solutions are being reinforced. At the same time, Monaco is investing in sustainable transit, including the future introduction of two new trains aimed at improving regional connections.
While the Louis II closure may present short-term challenges, it reflects a long-term vision: a more modern, efficient, and environmentally conscious Monaco. Motorists are advised to plan ahead, explore alternative options, and embrace this season of change in one of the world’s most refined city-states.
