Monaco’s global allure shows no sign of slowing. According to the latest census released in March 2026 by IMSEE, the Principality’s population reached 38,857 residents in 2025 — marking a 1.1% increase compared to the previous year. While the growth may appear modest, it reflects a steady and consistent rise, reinforcing Monaco’s status as one of the world’s most desirable places to live.

Today, Monaco is home to residents from 144 nationalities, creating a uniquely international community within just over two square kilometres. Monegasques remain the largest single group, accounting for 24% of the population, followed by French and Italian residents. Notably, British nationals have firmly secured fourth place, representing 7.9% of residents — a figure that highlights the Principality’s increasing appeal to UK citizens.

This trend is particularly visible among new arrivals. Between 2023 and 2025, French nationals made up the largest share of newcomers, but the United Kingdom followed closely, representing nearly one in five new residents. The continued influx of British nationals reflects a broader shift, as Monaco positions itself as a stable and attractive base for individuals seeking financial security and an elevated quality of life in a rapidly changing global landscape.

Demographically, Monaco attracts residents in their prime. The average age of new arrivals stands at 44.7 years, suggesting a population driven by established professionals and entrepreneurs at the height of their careers. Overall, the Principality’s average age is slightly higher at 47.2 years, with the largest segment falling within the 50 to 64 age group.

Despite its reputation as a destination for wealth and success, Monaco maintains a balanced social structure. Women represent a slight majority of the population, and over half of adult residents are married, reflecting a community that is both dynamic and deeply rooted.

As Monaco continues to evolve, its ability to attract a diverse, high-calibre international population remains one of its greatest strengths — shaping a future defined by stability, sophistication, and global influence.
