Monaco’s Prince’s Palace Lit Blue for World Drowning Prevention Day

To mark World Drowning Prevention Day, the Prince’s Palace of Monaco was illuminated in vivid blue light, signaling a commitment to raising awareness around a global public health priority. Established by the United Nations in 2021, the annual observance calls on nations and communities to implement practical measures against water-related casualties.

The symbolic illumination serves as a visual reminder of the millions affected worldwide by accidental drowning, an issue spearheaded locally by the Princess Charlene of Monaco Foundation alongside public health and safety organizations.

Through educational initiatives, aquatic safety training, and public awareness campaigns, the principality continues to champion prevention efforts designed to protect vulnerable populations - particularly young children - from preventable water accidents.
