Monaco’s Royal Family Honors a Trans-Atlantic Thanksgiving Legacy

Princess Grace of Monaco, the former Grace Kelly, never allowed the Atlantic to separate her children from their American roots. During monthlong visits to Philadelphia, she carried scrapple in her handbag and insisted that Thanksgiving - turkey and all - be celebrated at the palace, even when the holiday was virtually unknown in Europe.

That tradition has endured. Prince Albert II continued the ritual with his own children, Hereditary Prince Jacques and Princess Gabriella, a quiet testament to the enduring power of family customs, no matter the distance from home.

This Thanksgiving, Monaco remembered Princess Grace’s devotion to family, culture, and the simple joy of gathering around a table filled with love.
