Prince Albert II of Monaco participated in the 7th Summit of the European Political Community, held in Copenhagen on October 2, 2025. The gathering brought together European heads of state and government, alongside leaders from European institutions and international organizations, to strengthen dialogue and cooperation in addressing shared challenges.
At a roundtable titled “Economic Security and Reducing European Dependencies,” the Prince emphasized the importance of multilateralism, noting that each state, regardless of size, must contribute to collective responses. He underscored the need to reduce external dependencies in strategic sectors such as energy, technology, and defense, while advocating for a heightened role of innovation and public support for these areas. Citing Monaco’s own startup initiatives, he highlighted the principality’s contributions to ecological transition and decarbonization.
Prince Albert also engaged in discussions on a European coalition against drugs, an initiative launched at the Tirana Summit in May 2025 by France and Italy. This effort aims to enhance European cooperation in combating drug trafficking and illicit financial flows, while developing prevention programs.

On the sidelines, the Prince met with Cyprus President Nikos Christodoulides, who felicitated Monaco’s 2026 Council of Europe presidency, and Andorran Head of Government Xavier Espot Zamora. The latter received thanks for hosting the European Small States Games in June, a event Prince Albert noted as a cornerstone of Monaco’s Council of Europe presidency, where sport plays a vital role.
