In a stunning upset, Monaco’s Valentin Vacherot captured the Masters 1000 title at the Shanghai tournament, defeating France’s Arthur Rinderknech in a gripping three-set final on October 11, 2025, with a score of 4-6, 6-3, 6-3. The victory marks a monumental milestone, making Vacherot the first player from the Principality to win a Masters 1000 event, propelling Monaco onto the global tennis map.

Entering the tournament ranked 204th worldwide, Vacherot’s triumph over the higher-seeded Rinderknech showcased his resilience and skill, turning a challenging match into a showcase of Monegasque prowess.
