Monacqua Collaborates With Norman Foster on Sustainable Design Project

Monacqua has recently strengthened its cultural positioning through a collaboration with British architect Norman Foster, one of the most influential figures in contemporary architecture. The partnership brings together design, sustainability, and everyday consumption, with Foster contributing a limited-edition visual concept that highlights the connection between architecture and daily life. The collaboration is rooted in a shared interest in simplicity, function, and environmental awareness, translating architectural thinking into a product designed for everyday use.

Foster’s involvement reflects his long-standing work in Monaco, where his practice Foster + Partners has helped shape key landmarks such as the Yacht Club de Monaco. His approach to architecture, focused on efficiency, light, and environmental integration, aligns with Monacqua’s own emphasis on sustainability and material responsibility.

Monacqua, founded in 2022, is a Monaco-based bottled water brand created by Geeta Kalwani with the aim of reshaping how water is produced and consumed. The company focuses on reducing plastic use by introducing alternatives such as glass and paper-based packaging, while maintaining a strong emphasis on design and quality.

The brand is built around the principle of kaizen, where continuous small improvements lead to long-term change. This philosophy guides every aspect of its operations, from sourcing natural water to packaging and distribution.

The name Monacqua combines “mon” and “acqua,” reflecting both personal identity and a universal resource. Its visual universe draws inspiration from the elegance of the Belle Époque, reinterpreted in a modern, minimal style that emphasizes clarity, balance, and nature.

Founder Geeta Kalwani brings an international background to the project. Born in Liberia into an Indian family, she spent her childhood moving across countries due to conflict and later studied in Paris and Singapore, graduating from Sciences Po and the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy. Her experience shaped a global outlook focused on responsibility and innovation.

Monacqua is structured around five pillars: purity, solidarity, sustainability, local engagement, and culture. Its water is sourced from European springs and packaged using recyclable glass and renewable-based cartons.

The brand also supports the Fondation Princesse Grace, contributing to pediatric healthcare initiatives and social programmes.

Through its partnership with Foster and its wider cultural collaborations, Monacqua positions itself at the intersection of sustainability, design, and modern luxury.
