This January, the Opéra de Monte-Carlo will present a celebration of Mozart’s genius through two of his most renowned operas as part of its Mozart à Monaco series.
The festivities will commence on January 19 with a unique semi-staged rendition of Don Giovanni at the Auditorium Rainier III. This performance will see collaboration between the Opéra de Monte-Carlo and the prestigious Vienna State Opera. An acclaimed cast will take the stage, featuring Davide Luciano in the title role, alongside Maria Bengtsson as Donna Anna and Tara Erraught as Donna Elvira. The musical forces will be led by the talented Bertrand de Billy and include the local chorus in an event promising to enchant audiences.
Following this, from January 22 to 28, the spotlight will shift to La Clemenza di Tito, one of Mozart’s final works. This production is a collaboration with both the Royal Danish Opera and the Hamburg State Opera. Renowned director Jetske Mijnssen will helm the performance, which stars Cecilia Bartoli as Sesto and Giovanni Sala portraying Tito. Other notable performers include Mané Galoyan as Vitellia and Mélissa Petit as Servilia. The music will be brought to life by Les Musiciens du Prince, conducted by Gianluca Capuano.
