A new direct air connection will make travel between Monaco, the French Riviera and the United States more convenient from next summer. American Airlines is adding a daily seasonal flight from Nice Côte d’Azur Airport to New York JFK, beginning on 6 May 2027.
For Monaco, located around 30 kilometres from Nice airport, the route is a significant addition. New York remains one of the most important international connections for the region, serving both American visitors arriving on the Riviera and residents travelling to the United States.
American Airlines will use the Airbus A321XLR on the route. The long-range aircraft accommodates 155 passengers, including 20 Flagship Suite seats and 12 Premium Economy seats, alongside 123 seats in the Main Cabin. Wi-Fi, individual entertainment screens and Bluetooth connectivity will be available throughout the aircraft.
The announcement comes three years after American Airlines first established a presence in Nice with its Philadelphia service in 2024. Following positive demand for that connection, the carrier is now expanding its Côte d’Azur programme with direct access to one of the United States’ principal international hubs.
Nice Airport has steadily developed its links across the Atlantic in recent years. With the arrival of the new American Airlines service, its North American network will reach ten long-haul routes, eight of them serving destinations in the United States. New York alone will be connected to Nice by four services.
The development is particularly relevant for Monaco’s tourism and business sectors. A broader choice of direct flights reduces reliance on connections through Paris and other European airports, while giving American travellers easier access to the Principality and the wider Riviera.
The Nice route is part of American Airlines’ wider transatlantic expansion for 2027, which also includes new services to Amsterdam, Porto and Vienna.
Tickets are due to go on sale on 31 August.
