New ETA Requirement for Monegasques Travelling to the UK Starting April 2025

Starting from April 2, 2025, Monegasque citizens will be required to obtain an Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) for all visits to the United Kingdom, regardless of the purpose of travel. This new measure, aimed at enhancing border security, applies to all Monegasques planning trips for business, leisure, or even transit.

The ETA is an essential digital permit for those from visa-exempt countries, excluding British and Irish nationals. Monegasques can begin applying for this authorisation as of March 5, 2025. The process is mandatory for all types of short visits, including for children, for whom parents must apply on their behalf.

To apply, travellers will need to use a dedicated online portal or mobile app. The application requires basic personal and passport details, and while processing is generally fast, authorities recommend submitting applications a few days in advance of travel to avoid any delays.

This new regulation underscores the UK's effort to streamline entry procedures and improve its border control system. The ETA will be valid for two years from the date of approval, making it a practical option for frequent travellers.
