In an impressive milestone, Nice Côte d’Azur Airport reported a 2.5% increase in overall aviation traffic in 2024, setting a new record for the region. The airport handled nearly 14.8 million passengers last year, surpassing both 2023’s figures (14.2 million) and pre-COVID numbers in 2019 (14.5 million).
With a total of 109,455 commercial flights, the airport continues to thrive despite the challenges posed by the global pandemic. The occupancy rate for these flights stood at 81.2%, indicating high demand and sustained interest in both regional and international travel.
A standout achievement for 2024 was the expansion of Nice's connectivity, with airlines offering direct flights to 122 destinations across 45 countries. This included long-haul routes to key global hubs, including five to the United States, two to Canada, and six to the Gulf States.
Franck Goldnadel, Chairman of the Board at Aéroports de la Côte d’Azur, highlighted the importance of connecting the Côte d’Azur directly to major cities worldwide. He explained, "Our goal is to meet the travel needs of locals and visitors in a sustainable way, providing essential air transport connections to global capitals."
Looking ahead, the airport is working on enhancing its infrastructure. Terminal 2 is undergoing expansion to increase capacity from 14 million to 18 million passengers annually. Additionally, a significant upgrade of the retail offerings is set to take place this year, promising an even more comfortable and convenient experience for travelers.
This exceptional growth reaffirms Nice Airport's position as a major gateway to the French Riviera and an essential hub in the global air travel network.
