Sébastien Ogier, the reigning world rally champion and a dominant force in motorsport, is poised to pursue an unprecedented 11th triumph at the Rallye Monte-Carlo, the storied event that kicks off the World Rally Championship season.
The French driver, who has claimed victory in the prestigious Monegasque race on 10 previous occasions, has been confirmed among the entrants for the 94th edition, scheduled to run from Jan. 22 to 25 in the Principality of Monaco. The entry list, released on Monday by the Automobile Club de Monaco, positions Ogier as a frontrunner in his bid to extend his legacy on the challenging Alpine stages.
A total of 66 competitors will line up for the event, vying across various categories. In the premier Rally1 class, Ogier faces familiar challengers, including Elfyn Evans, Takamoto Katsuta and Thierry Neuville, all of whom are expected to mount strong efforts to unseat him and etch their own names into the rally's illustrious roll of honor.
Ogier's pursuit comes amid a career marked by consistent excellence, with his current world title underscoring his status as one of the sport's all-time greats. The Monte-Carlo rally, known for its unpredictable winter conditions and demanding mix of asphalt and ice, has long been a proving ground for elite drivers.
