Opéra de Monte-Carlo Brings Gluck's "Orfeo ed Euridice" to the Big Screen

The Opéra de Monte-Carlo is breathing new life into Christoph Willibald Gluck’s masterpiece Orfeo ed Euridice through an unprecedented cinematic project, bringing the timeless opera to the silver screen.
The production brings the classical myth to life under the direction of Davide Livermore and Paolo Gep Cucco. The cast features renowned mezzo-soprano Cecilia Bartoli in the title role of Orfeo, Mélissa Petit as Euridice, and Chiara Osella in the role of Amore.
Production is currently underway at the Prodea Led Studios in Turin, Italy. Speaking from the set between takes, Ms. Bartoli emphasized the broader cultural ambitions of the adaptation: "Universal and known to all, the story of Orpheus and Eurydice allows us to address a public far vaster than that of opera lovers alone, and to offer those who do not necessarily frequent opera houses an opportunity to discover Gluck's wonderful music."
Audiences can expect the completed film to premiere in 2027.
