MONACO — His Serene Highness Prince Albert II has appointed Philippe Mettoux as Monaco’s new Minister of State, beginning July 4, 2025. The official announcement was made by the Prince’s Palace this week.

Mettoux, currently a member of the French Conseil d’État, has built a long career in public service. He began as a magistrate and served as a public prosecutor in several courts. He then worked on criminal justice and pardons at the Ministry of Justice, and contributed to anti-corruption efforts in France.

Later, Mettoux became an advisor to government leaders, including Dominique Perben at the Ministry of Justice and Dominique de Villepin at both the Interior Ministry and the Prime Minister’s office. Since 2013, he has worked as Director of Legal Affairs and Compliance at SNCF, France’s national railway group, where he also served as internal mediator.

The Prince expressed deep gratitude to Isabelle Berro-Amadeï, who temporarily filled the role of Minister of State in recent months, while also serving as Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation. Her professionalism and knowledge helped ensure stability and continuity during the transition.

Mettoux’s appointment reflects Monaco’s commitment to calm, competent leadership — a steady course guided by experience, trust, and service.
