As October paints the world in shades of pink, Monaco joins the global movement dedicated to fighting breast cancer and spreading a message of prevention, solidarity, and hope. This year, the Centre Hospitalier Princesse Grace (CHPG)once again leads the initiative, reminding women of the importance of early detection and regular health checks.
Launched on 1 October, the campaign highlights a truth that can save lives: the earlier breast cancer is detected, the better the chances of recovery. “Self-examination and routine screening remain the best forms of protection,” emphasises the CHPG medical team. Women are encouraged to perform monthly self-checks and to schedule appointments with their gynaecologist or for mammograms, especially from the age of 50, when a screening every two years is strongly recommended.
Breast cancer remains the most common cancer among women worldwide, and also the deadliest — yet, with vigilance and modern medicine, outcomes continue to improve. The CHPG stresses that awareness should start early: from the age of 25, women are advised to visit their GP or gynaecologist annually.
Risk factors such as age, obesity, alcohol and tobacco use, family history, and certain genetic predispositionsunderline the need for proactive care. The campaign also seeks to remove taboos around the topic, encouraging open dialogue and support among women of all ages.
Throughout October, the CHPG’s team will be available to answer questions and provide guidance. For more information or to book a screening, contact (+377) 97 98 99 00.
Pink October is more than a campaign — it’s a reminder to care, to act, and to stand together for women’s health.
