Prince Albert II Attends UCI Cycling Championships in Rwanda

On September 28, Prince Albert II of Monaco participated in the official launch of the UCI Road World Championships in Kigali 2025, covering elite men’s and women’s categories. The ceremony, held in the presence of UCI President David Lappartient, Sports Minister Nelly Mukazayire, and State Secretary Rwego Ngarambe, marked the Prince’s attendance at the women’s event, where he presented medals to Canadian rider Magdeleine Vallières.
The following day, the Prince attended the men’s race, witnessing Slovenian cyclist Tadej Pogačar’s victory alongside Lappartient and Rwandan President Paul Kagame. The event, held before thousands, marked the first UCI Road World Championships on African soil, signaling a historic step for the sport’s future.
Later, Prince Albert II attended the official opening of the Carlos Takam Academy in Kigali, a boxing center founded by former champion Carlos Takam, who has ties to Monaco.
