On the eve of Monaco’s National Day, Prince Albert II presided over a ceremony at Stade Louis-II to award the Medal of Physical Education and Sports to 53 individuals in recognition of their contributions to the principality’s athletic and educational communities.
Among the recipients was Louis Ducruet, the prince’s nephew and president of Les Barbagiuans, Monaco’s celebrated charity football team. Mr. Ducruet received the bronze medal for his longstanding commitment to the club, which raises funds for local causes through exhibition matches featuring former professional players and members of the Grimaldi family.
The ceremony took place in the presence of Princess Charlene, Princess Stéphanie, Camille Gottlieb, and Marie Ducruet, underscoring the princely family’s continued emphasis on youth development and sporting excellence in the tiny Mediterranean state.

The awards, bestowed annually by the Monaco Department of National Education, Youth and Sports, honor volunteers, coaches, teachers, and administrators who have made significant contributions to physical education and amateur sport within the principality.
