Prince Albert II of Monaco joined global leaders at the COP30 climate conference in Belém for a round table titled “Climate and Nature: Forests and Oceans,” reaffirming his lifelong commitment to the preservation of oceans and forests in the tradition of his great-great-grandfather, Prince Albert I.
The sovereign highlighted the essential connection between forests and oceans, calling for climate action grounded in nature-based solutions. He cited Monaco’s ongoing initiatives, including support for blue carbon projects in Africa and assessments of carbon storage in seagrass meadows.
Discussions focused on just and inclusive energy transitions, protection of tropical forests and local populations, climate finance for vulnerable nations, and international cooperation to implement the Paris Agreement.
Prince Albert emphasized that COP30 must serve as the moment to translate commitments into concrete actions, rooted in solidarity and shared responsibility, to safeguard the planet for future generations.
