Prince Albert II of Monaco traveled to Liguria on Tuesday, continuing a tradition of visits to lands historically connected to his family and the principality.
In the village of Stella, near San Giovanni, the prince was welcomed by Mayor Andrea Castellini, local authorities and residents. There, he paid tribute to Sandro Pertini, the former president of Italy, by laying a wreath at his tomb. Pertini, a prominent 20th-century figure, is widely remembered by Italians for his courage during World War I, his antifascist activism and his leadership in the Italian Resistance.
The sovereign then toured the ruins of a medieval castle once owned by the Grimaldi family before attending official remarks at the Sandro Pertini House-Museum.

In the afternoon, Prince Albert proceeded to Andora, where he was received by Mayor Mauro Demichelis. He unveiled an official plaque marking the Grimaldi Historical Sites Network of Monaco and later inaugurated restoration work on the Clavesana-Paraxo Castle, a 13th-century Grimaldi property. The visit concluded with a tour of the adjacent church.
The trip underscored the enduring historical, cultural and patrimonial bonds between Monaco and Liguria.
