The Princess Charlene of Monaco Foundation continues its relentless fight against drownings, which affect around 236,000 people each year. The latest initiative to combat this issue? Short awareness videos.
Residents of Monaco and surrounding areas are encouraged to watch, share these videos, and support the cause.
"The Foundation created these videos to be accessible and relevant to everyone, hoping they will inspire safe and preventive behaviors," said Princess Charlene of Monaco. "Drowning is an avoidable tragedy, and with this campaign, we aim to equip everyone with the knowledge and instincts that can save lives."
Focused on everyday life, these 30-second videos depict various scenarios where drowning risks are present. One video, for example, shows a person lying on a sunbed by the pool with headphones on. The phrase "We all know the song" appears, followed by "And yet..." with an image of a floating armband. This serves as a reminder to parents to remain vigilant around water, as children under six are the most frequent victims of drowning.
These videos are available on the Foundation's social media channels and through local partner networks. They will also be shown on digital bus stop screens in the Gare, Condamine, and Larvotto neighborhoods, as well as on display networks at the Monaco train station, Polygone Riviera, Cap 3000, and Nice Étoile, ensuring widespread distribution. Additionally, they will be screened during Monaco's outdoor cinema sessions in July and August.
