Printemps des Arts 2025: A Fusion of Tradition and Innovation in Monaco

Monaco’s acclaimed Printemps des Arts festival returns for 2025 with a vibrant celebration of musical diversity, offering a rich tapestry of classical compositions and cutting-edge performances. From March 2nd to April 27th, the festival promises a thrilling mix of concerts, collaborations, and immersive experiences, appealing to music enthusiasts of all ages.

Under the guidance of Princess Caroline of Hanover and Artistic Director Bruno Mantovani, the festival stays true to its roots while embracing modern innovation. First launched in 1970 by Princess Grace of Monaco, it unites music, theatre, and dance in a dynamic cultural showcase. The 2025 edition will continue to spotlight both iconic works and contemporary creations, with several world premieres and lesser-known masterpieces.

The festival’s opening night on March 2nd at the Auditorium Rainier III will feature a grand concert, conducted by Philippe Jordan, showcasing Mahler’s Symphony No. 10 and Wagner’s *Tristan und Isolde*. Following this, expect an array of performances including Stockhausen’s *Stimmung*, Boulez’s *Dérive 2*, and jazz interpretations of Debussy and Ravel by Hervé Sellin.

One of the highlights of the 2025 festival is a unique collaboration with the Francis Bacon MB Art Foundation. Violinist Aya Kono will perform iconic works by Boulez and Berio in an intimate “musical wandering” through the foundation’s striking space on March 13th and 14th, blending visual art with music.

Interactive engagements remain a key feature, with "Before" and "After" sessions, backstage tours, and educational masterclasses providing in-depth insights. Family-friendly performances, such as *Le Voyage de Noah*, will offer younger audiences the chance to engage with music in a fun and accessible way.

The festival will conclude on April 27th with Valentin Silvestrov’s *Four Postludes*, a reflective piece that encapsulates the spirit of the event—an extraordinary bridge between classical tradition and contemporary innovation.
