For more than a quarter of a century, the Rallye Monte-Carlo Historique has celebrated the golden age of motorsport, bringing vintage cars and passionate crews together in the Principality. In 2026, the 28th edition will rewrite tradition with a bold new format that stretches across Europe and redefines the experience for drivers and fans alike.
From 29 January to 7 February 2026, the rally will unfold on an unprecedented scale. The adventure begins in John O’Groats, Scotland, on 29 January, before drivers in Bad Hombourg, Barcelona, Turin, Monte-Carlo and Reims set off simultaneously on 1 February. This continental approach transforms the rally into a true odyssey, evoking the spirit of long-distance endurance that made historic editions legendary.
Safety Meets Authenticity
One of the most significant innovations is the decision to run all regularity stages on closed roads. This change ensures maximum safety for crews and spectators while maintaining the rally’s signature authenticity. To reinforce protection, CE-approved helmets will now be mandatory on these sections, underlining the Automobile Club de Monaco’s focus on responsible competition.
Broader Horizons for Classic Cars
The 2026 edition also expands its eligibility criteria. For the first time, all vehicles that took part in the Monte-Carlo Rally between 1911 and 1986 will be accepted, opening the door for a wider variety of historic cars to join. Competitors will be divided into three average-speed categories, each with its own ranking, allowing different profiles of crews to compete fairly while preserving the sporting challenge.
Registrations are open until 3 November 2025 via inscriptions.acm.mc, with an entry fee of €6,800, which includes access to the rally’s iconic Gala Evening.
The Rallye Monte-Carlo Historique is poised to enter a thrilling new era—bigger, safer, and more inclusive than ever before.
