Eighty-two years after Allied and resistance efforts restored freedom to the region, the Principality of Monaco paused on Thursday, September 3, to commemorate the 82nd anniversary of its Liberation and that of neighboring communes.
The day's events unfolded across the territory under the leadership of Mayor Georges Marsan and members of the Communal Council, alongside the Committee for Period Commemoration. Delegations gathered for significant milestones, beginning with a wreath-laying ceremony at the Maison de France, followed by a communal gathering - the verre de l'amitié - held within the Cour d'Honneur of the Mairie de Monaco.

The solemnities concluded at the Monaco Cemetery with the traditional Remembrance Ceremony. Wreaths were laid at the Monument aux Morts as well as directly upon the graves of René Borghini and Joseph Lajoux, celebrated Monegasque Resistance heroes. The final tributes included a moment of silence, a prayer for peace, and national anthems performed by the Musique Municipale.
