On May 30, 2024, H.E. Mr. Gabriel Revel, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of the Principality of Monaco to the Council of Europe, and Mr. Bjørn Berge, Deputy Secretary General of the Council of Europe, renewed the agreement on voluntary contributions between Monaco and the Organization.

Through this agreement, Monaco reaffirms its support for the Council of Europe by committing to fund the Institution’s activities.

The programs supported by the Princely Government align with Monaco’s international priorities, focusing on four key areas where the Council of Europe has demonstrated recognized expertise:

1. Combating violence against women, domestic violence, and violence against children in Morocco and Tunisia (Council of Europe Neighbourhood Partnership);
2. The Council of Europe Action Plan on protecting vulnerable people in the context of migration and asylum in Europe;
3. Enhancing the efficiency of the European Court of Human Rights by reducing the backlog of well-founded cases;
4. The Fund for the Convention on the Conservation of European Wildlife and Natural Habitats (Bern Convention).
