Safe Harbor Strengthens Its Presence in Monaco with New Corporate Names

A familiar name in Monaco’s yachting industry has officially changed. Following the acquisition of Monaco Marine by US-based Safe Harbor last year, two Monaco-registered companies have now adopted names reflecting their place within the international group.

The changes were recorded in the latest issue of the Journal de Monaco. Monaco Marine SAM is now Safe Harbor SAM, while Power Boat SAM has become Safe Harbor Monaco SAM. The decisions were approved by shareholders at extraordinary general meetings on 26 June 2026.

The companies continue to operate from 14 quai Antoine Ier, keeping their Monaco base despite the corporate rebranding.

The move is the latest stage in Safe Harbor’s integration of the Monaco Marine business, which began when the US group completed its acquisition on 31 July 2025. It was a significant deal for the company, marking its first major move into the Mediterranean.

A Bigger Mediterranean Footprint

The acquisition brought nine marina and shipyard locations in Monaco and the south of France into the Safe Harbor network. Together, the sites provide services ranging from yacht berthing and storage to maintenance and major refit work, including facilities capable of handling vessels and superyachts of up to 90 metres.

The network established by Monaco Marine had already become an important part of the region’s yachting infrastructure. Founded by Michel Ducros in 1995, the company expanded over the years across some of the Mediterranean’s best-known boating destinations, including Saint-Tropez, Antibes, La Ciotat, Marseille, Beaulieu-sur-Mer and Saint-Laurent-du-Var.

For Safe Harbor, the acquisition significantly increased its international reach. The company said at the time that the deal brought its global portfolio to 149 marinas and shipyards.

The new names do not signal a departure from Monaco. Instead, they underline the connection between the local operations and a much larger international network.

With the legal rebranding now complete, Safe Harbor has further consolidated its position in Monaco and strengthened its presence along the French Riviera, one of the world’s most important destinations for luxury yachting.
