The boundaries between contemporary media spectacle and historical analysis will blur at the Fort Antoine Theatre this month, as the Direction des Affaires Culturelles presents Dissonances Jeanne d'Arc. Scheduled for Tuesday, June 30, 2026, the production offers a sharp, satirical dissection of modern public discourse framed through the legacy of one of history’s most polarizing figures.
Produced by the Compagnie du Dire Dire and directed by Frédéric de Goldfiem, the 1-hour-and-40-minute performance is structured as a "popular and buffoonish radio show." The production meticulously replicates the environment of a live broadcast studio onstage. What begins as an intellectual exercise, however, rapidly devolves into a metaphorical boxing match among its simulated panelists.
The fictional broadcast features a volatile assembly of archetypes: a journalist, a sketch artist, a priest, a mystic, a legal expert, a rebellious director, and a far-right commentator. Together, they clash over the historical and contemporary implications of Joan of Arc. By blending legitimate experts with actors, the production deliberately obscures the line between sincerity and parody, forcing the audience to question the authenticity of the arguments presented.
The sonic landscape of the evening is anchored by the musical compositions of François Barucco. The ensemble cast driving this high-tension debate includes Cyril Cotinaut, Gérard de Martigues, Sophie de Montgolfier, Jonathan Gensburger, Marion Llombart, Jennifer Maria, and Frédéric Rey.
According to the organizers, the performance is intended for audiences aged 13 and older. The event is scheduled to begin at 21:30, exploiting the open-air atmosphere of Fort Antoine to heighten the transition from comedic satire to sudden, jarring reality.
