In the shifting landscape where industrial design meets fine art, few figures have maintained as radical a trajectory as Ron Arad. The recent exhibition at Opera Gallery Monaco, titled "Ron Arad, from 1992 to 2026,"offered a rigorous examination of this evolution, coinciding with the city-state’s annual Art Week.
Running from April 27 through May 28, the showcase served as a focused survey of Arad’s career, documenting over thirty years of experimentation. The collection highlighted his mastery of fluid forms and a career-long fascination with the malleability of metal - materials usually associated with rigid industrial utility that, under Arad’s hand, take on an almost biological elasticity.

The exhibition successfully traced the tension between function and sculpture. Among the notable works were This Mortal Coil (large) (1992), a piece that anchors Arad’s early 1990s output, alongside more contemporary explorations such as Linguine (2020) and the Good Ping Pong Dining Table (2023). Together, these objects challenge the traditional boundaries of the domestic environment, transforming utilitarian furniture into site-specific interventions.
The week’s programming will culminate in a significant public engagement on April 30 at the Grimaldi Forum. There, Arad will appear in conversation with Federica Beretta, the Global Director of Opera Gallery. The dialogue is expected to provide a rare window into the philosophical foundations of a body of work that continues to influence the parallel worlds of architecture and design.
