The Rhône Dental Clinic: Seven Decades of Smiles

In the heart of Geneva, along the prestigious Rue du Rhône, dentistry is not treated as a routine medical service. It is presented as something closer to a curated experience — controlled, discreet, and tailored to a city where international schedules rarely leave room for delay. The Rhône Dental Clinic has built its reputation in this environment, combining clinical dentistry with an unusually high level of personal coordination and in-house technical work.

Rue du Rhône is better known for diplomacy, banking and luxury shopping than for healthcare, yet this is precisely the context that defines the clinic’s identity. Sometimes patients arrive with limited time and high expectations. Appointments are structured accordingly: precise timing, continuity of care and minimal disruption. The clinic itself avoids the typical medical aesthetic. The space feels closer to a private residence than a healthcare facility, overlooking the Rhône and Lake Geneva. The intention is straightforward — reduce the distance between patient and treatment, both physically and psychologically.

The clinic provides a full range of medical procedures including dental emergencies, oral surgery, implantology, endodontics, periodontology, wisdom teeth extraction, paediatric dentistry, bruxism and dental trauma care, as well as comprehensive diagnostics and preventive dentistry, while its aesthetic treatments cover dental veneers, crowns and prosthetics, teeth whitening, Invisalign and orthodontics, cosmetic dentistry, restorative smile design, and anti-ageing aesthetic facial harmonisation procedures.

The visionaries behind the clinic

Dr Christophe Gachet is the driving force behind the current identity of the Rhône Dental Clinic. A dentist with more than three decades of experience, he took over the practice in 2009 and gradually transformed it into a multidisciplinary clinic combining restorative, aesthetic and surgical dentistry under one roof. Member of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, he is known for his focus on complex restorative cases, dental phobia management and a strong emphasis on integrated treatment planning. His approach blends clinical precision with a structured, service-oriented model adapted to Geneva’s international patient base. Over the years, he has expanded the clinic’s scope while maintaining its continuity as a long-standing Geneva institution dating back to 1952.

Dr Carl Merheb is a partner at the Rhône Dental Clinic, specialising in cosmetic, restorative and adhesive dentistry. Trained in Geneva and Leuven, he joined the clinic in 2020 as a specialist in aesthetic dentistry and became a partner in 2023, playing a key role in shaping the clinic’s modern identity and approach to aesthetic dentistry. Following his teaching career at the University of Geneva, he founded the Rhône Dental Academy, dedicated to continuing education in aesthetic and restorative dentistry. He is also active in research and international scientific publications in the field of aesthetic dentistry.

The Clinic’s Indoor Laboratory

What sets the clinic apart is its on-site dental laboratory. Veneers, crowns and ceramic restorations are produced internally rather than outsourced, which shifts the entire treatment chain under one roof. Dentists and ceramists work in direct contact, adjusting colour, shape and structure without external delays. That proximity matters in practice: adjustments can be made quickly, sometimes within the same day, and the final result is refined through direct clinical feedback rather than remote communication. The laboratory functions as a technical workshop. Materials are layered and shaped to replicate natural enamel, with a focus on light reflection and texture rather than uniformity. It is a process closer to craftsmanship than mass production, though entirely embedded in clinical dentistry.

VIP service

The clinic avoids theatrical language around exclusivity. The difference lies in organisation. Patients are seen within a continuous care framework, often by the same specialists throughout treatment. Planning is centralised, which becomes particularly relevant in multi-step restorative or aesthetic cases. For patients with dental anxiety, sedation is available and integrated into routine procedures. Or you can simply watch TV or listen to music during your dental treatment without fear and pain. International patients make up a significant part of the clinic’s profile. Coordination support is built into the process — scheduling, follow-ups, and treatment sequencing adapted to short stays in Geneva.

Rhône Dental Kids

Alongside adult care, the clinic runs Rhône Dental Kids, a dedicated paediatric unit built on a different logic from the main practice. The environment is deliberately adapted to children, with an emphasis on reducing early anxiety around dental visits.Treatment ranges from preventive care and hygiene to orthodontic monitoring, sealants and emergency procedures. Sedation is available when necessary, but the focus is placed first on behaviour, communication and familiarity.

The aim is not only clinical treatment but conditioning — building a relationship with dentistry that does not begin with fear. In practical terms, this means slower introductions, simplified explanations, and an environment designed to feel less clinical from the start.
