Seventy years after the marriage that captivated the world and forever transformed Monaco’s international image, the Prince’s Palace has unveiled a remarkable exhibition celebrating the legendary union of Prince Rainier III and Grace Kelly. Titled The Wedding of the Century, the exhibition runs from 18 June to 25 September 2026 in the State Apartments of the Palace, offering visitors an immersive journey through one of the most iconic royal weddings in history.
Drawing on an exceptional collection of photographs, film footage, jewellery, couture creations, wedding gifts, and previously unseen archival documents, the exhibition recreates the eight extraordinary days of celebrations that unfolded in April 1956. From Grace Kelly’s glamorous arrival aboard the SS Constitution to the couple’s departure for their honeymoon, visitors are invited to relive the events that attracted an estimated 30 million television viewers worldwide.
Spread across ten historic rooms, the exhibition explores every aspect of the celebrations. Highlights include the civil ceremony held in the Throne Room, the religious wedding at Monaco Cathedral, and the festive events organised for the Monegasque population. Special attention is given to the personalities who shaped the occasion, as well as the music, traditions, and atmosphere that defined the historic week.
Fashion enthusiasts will be captivated by the story behind Grace Kelly’s unforgettable bridal wardrobe. Designed by MGM costume designer Helen Rose, her wedding gown remains one of the most admired dresses in history. The exhibition also showcases exquisite jewellery presented to the new Princess, including spectacular creations from Cartier and Van Cleef & Arpels.
Among the many treasures on display are unique wedding gifts, ranging from a Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud to unusual presents from around the world. Through its carefully curated presentation, The Wedding of the Century offers a fascinating glimpse into a royal romance that continues to inspire generations and remains an enduring symbol of Monaco’s elegance and allure.
