A new chapter in transatlantic travel began on May 23, as United Airlines introduced a non-stop seasonal route connecting Nice to the U.S. capital, Washington, D.C. Operated four times a week on a Boeing 767-300, the new service marks a significant milestone for both leisure and business travel between the French Riviera and the East Coast of the United States.
This strategic launch is part of United Airlines’ largest international expansion to date, catering to the increasing demand from American travelers seeking Riviera sophistication and Mediterranean charm. The additional route boosts capacity from Nice to the U.S. by more than 30% this summer, reinforcing the region’s reputation as a luxury destination for global jetsetters.
“With this new direct service, we’re expanding options for travelers across Nice, Monaco, and the entire Côte d’Azur,” noted Grégoire Dutoit, United’s Commercial Director for France. Passengers arriving in Washington D.C. will benefit from seamless access to over 130 destinations across North America via United’s extensive hub network.
Onboard, the aircraft offers three levels of service: Polaris business class with private suites and elevated dining, Premium Plus seating for extra comfort, and a spacious economy cabin. Premium touches such as Therabody wellness amenities and Saks Fifth Avenue collaborations enhance the flight experience for high-end travelers.
Complementing the existing Nice–New York/Newark route and daily Paris–U.S. services, the new Nice–Washington route symbolizes the Côte d’Azur’s evolving role as a gateway to international travelers.
Franck Goldnadel, Chairman of Aéroports de la Côte d’Azur, described the development as a reflection of the region’s growing influence and connectivity: “It confirms our ambition to link the Riviera to the world’s leading capitals.”
