Transatlantic travel from the French Riviera is set to gain renewed momentum as United Airlines confirms the return of its direct connection between Nice Côte d’Azur Airport and Washington D.C. for the summer 2026 season. The non-stop service, first introduced in 2025, will resume on 22 May and operate until the end of September, reinforcing strategic air links between Europe and the United States.
Operating four times per week, the route will once again connect Nice directly to the Washington-Dulles hub, making United Airlines the only carrier to offer a nonstop service between these two destinations. Alongside the airline’s daily flights to New York/Newark, the seasonal route represents a significant boost in capacity, with United reporting a seat increase of more than one third compared to 2024 on services between Nice and the US.
The renewed connection is particularly beneficial for travellers from Monaco and the wider Côte d’Azur region. According to Grégoire Dutoit, United Airlines’ Commercial Director for France, the route provides greater flexibility and direct access to the American capital, while opening seamless onward connections to numerous North American cities via Washington-Dulles.
Flights will be operated using a Boeing 767-300, configured to meet both premium and leisure demand. On board, passengers can choose between 30 Polaris business class suites, 24 Premium Plus seats, and 149 economy class seats, ensuring a balanced offering for international travellers.
Franck Goldnadel, Chairman of the Executive Board of Aéroports de la Côte d’Azur, welcomed the announcement, highlighting the operational and environmental advantages of direct routes, including reduced travel time and lower emissions.
With Washington flights scheduled several times a week throughout the peak summer months, United Airlines continues to position Nice as a key European gateway for transatlantic travel.
