Monaco’s reputation as a centre for wealth is reflected in its job market. New figures from the Monaco Statistics (IMSEE) Monaco en chiffres 2026 report show just how sharply salaries vary across the Principality, with finance remaining in a league of its own.

In 2025, employees in financial and insurance activities earned an average gross monthly salary of €11,360, making it Monaco’s highest-paying sector. The figure is almost €4,000 above the next industry on the list, underlining the strength of banking, wealth management and financial services in the local economy.

Specialised, scientific and technical activities ranked second, with an average monthly salary of €7,355. Wholesale trade followed at €6,235, while transport and storage averaged €5,725.

Technology is also becoming an increasingly significant part of Monaco’s professional landscape. A new category covering information technology, telecommunications and media was introduced this year following the adoption of France’s updated NAF 2025 classification. The sector recorded an average gross monthly salary of €5,244, placing it among the better-paid industries in the Principality.

Other sectors recorded lower but still substantial averages: real estate (€4,551), industrial, manufacturing and craft activities (€4,440), accommodation and food services (€4,236), health, education and administration (€4,186), and retail (€4,043). Construction averaged €3,584, while administrative and support services came in at €3,122.

Across Monaco’s private sector, the average gross monthly salary reached €5,195 in 2025, up 5.4% from the previous year. But the median was considerably lower, at €3,475. The difference highlights the impact of high salaries in finance and other specialised professions on the overall average.

The expanded 2026 report offers a more detailed look at earnings by sector, age and sex, providing a clearer picture of Monaco’s evolving labour market — and confirming the Principality’s place among Europe’s most lucrative employment destinations.
