A museum visit in Monaco has become a little more adventurous for younger guests. The Museum of Stamps and Coins has introduced a new interactive activity that turns its collections into a trail of puzzles, discoveries and challenges for children.
Launched on 30 September, the experience gives young visitors an activity booklet to follow as they make their way through the museum. Instead of simply moving from display case to display case, children are encouraged to look closely, search for clues and find answers hidden among the exhibits.
Along the way, they learn how stamps and coins are created, encounter personalities connected to Monaco’s past and discover some of the more unusual pieces held in the museum’s collections. Games and puzzles are woven into the visit, giving children a reason to pay attention to details they might otherwise overlook.
The activity has been designed for children aged eight to 15 to complete on their own. Younger visitors from the age of six can also take part when accompanied by an adult. Those who successfully make their way through the experience will find a surprise waiting for them at the end.
The booklet costs €5. As part of the launch, the museum is also offering complimentary admission for one accompanying adult with every children’s booklet purchased until 2 November. The standard adult entrance fee is €3.
Located in Fontvieille, Monaco’s Museum of Stamps and Coins holds collections closely linked to the Principality’s postal and numismatic history, offering an insight into Monaco through objects that are often miniature in size but rich in detail.
The museum is open every day from 9.30am to 5pm. The new activity adds a playful dimension to a visit and offers families an easy cultural stop during the autumn school holidays — with a little detective work thrown in.
